Traders Point Christian Academy
EARLY CHILDHOOD DIVISION

Early Childhood Division

Our Early Childhood Division focuses on developing age-appropriate social and academic skills in a Christian environment. Children are placed in a program based on their age at August 1 and classes follow a traditional academic calendar, beginning in late August and ending in late May each year. In addition to social and academic goals listed below, children also experience instruction in beginning music theory and physical education. Classes typically enjoy two field trips each year. Bible stories, Bible verse memorization (as appropriate) and weekly chapel are an important part of each student's experience at TPCA.

TWOS learn about their environment, how to share, play with others, and make a smooth separation from parents. Beginning academic concepts introduced include: colors, shapes, alphabet and counting. This program meets twice each week for 2 1/2 hours each class. Classes are generally offered on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday beginning at 9:00 am or at 12:30 pm.

THREES work on developing skills and concepts such as cutting, tracing, color, and shape ID, and becoming more independent. Instruction and practice with letters and sound recognition, counting and beginning reading concepts is part of a thematic approach to learning. Yearly themes, for example, might include holidays, seasons, nutrition, or the seven days of God's creation. This program meets twice each week for 3 hours each class.  Classes are generally offered on Tuesday/Thursday beginning at 8:30 am,  9:00 am or 12:30 pm.

THREES PLUS is a separate program for children who will turn four years old between August 1 and December 1. By grouping these older "threes" together, we are best able to challenge children as appropriate in their development. The class content is similar to the THREES, but may progress at a faster pace or provide opportunity for additional instruction based on student progress. This program meets twice each week for 3 hours each class.  Classes are generally offered on  Monday/Wednesday beginning at 8:30 am or 12:30 pm.

FOURS engage in activities based on letters and sounds, Bible Stories, math concepts and further
further development
t of fine motor skills in preparation for Kindergarten. This program meets for three days each week for 3 hours each class. Classes are generally offered on Monday/Wednesday/Friday
beginning at 8:30 am or 12:30 pm.

FOURS PLUS is a separate program for children who will turn five years old between August 1 and December 1. By grouping these older "fours" together, we are best able to challenge children as appropriate in their development. The class content is very similar to the FOURS, but may progress at a faster pace or provide opportunity for additional instruction based on student progress. This program meets four days each week for 3 hours each class.  Classes are generally offered on  Monday - Thursday beginning at 8:30 am or 12:30 pm.

We also offer optional classes:
