Volunteering / Family Service Agreement

TPCS introduced a Family Service Agreement in the 2014-2015 school year. This agreement asks families to serve 40 hours throughout the school year or to select the buy-out option, if preferred. The Family Service Agreement (FSA) strengthens the partnership between the school and our families, and we thank you in advance for investing in TPCS in this way. Many families serve well beyond 40 hours, and this agreement facilitates the inclusion of all families in this much needed service to our school.

The highlights of this program include:

+Families with students in grades K-12 are required to serve 40 hours throughout the school year, regardless of number of children currently enrolled in TPCS.

+Early Childhood families with students enrolled less than 15 hours per week are required to serve 5 hours throughout the year. Families with EC students enrolled 15 or more hours per week are required to serve 10 hours throughout the year.

+Families with K-12 and EC studuents do not add the required hours together; the maximum for any family is 40 service hours.

+Adults 18 and over may serve these hours. Extended family members, such as grandparents, may assist in serving these hours. Children are not allowed to serve these hours.

+Hours are not transferable between families.

+A $400 buy-out option exists for families not wanting or able to serve the 40 service hours. This should be chosen at the beginning of the school year. (EC-only families may opt out for $50 or $100, depending on hours enrolled.)

+Unserved FSA hours will be charged at a rate of $15 each at the end of the fiscal year. For example, if a family has not chosen to opt out of the program at the beginning of the year and all FSA hours are unserved, a charge of $600 will be placed on the family’s account.

Service opportunities at TPCS are abundant! Whether it’s assisting in your student’s classroom, working the concession stand at a basketball game, or coordinating an after school program, there are opportunities to suit every family’s skills, talents, and availability. The process for serving at TPCS is easy. Just click on the “Getting Started” tab to the left and follow the steps. If you are unsure of where your skills and talents would best serve the students and faculty at TPCS, feel free to contact the Volunteer Coordinator. We would be happy to help you find an opportunity that works for your family.
