Biblical Worldview, Integration & Instruction
Everyone has a worldview. A worldview is like a set of lenses through which we perceive the world around us. Worldviews are shaped by the people, ideas, and culture around us; by our education, our upbringing, the books we read, the media and movies we absorb, etc. For many people their worldview is simply something they have absorbed by osmosis from their surrounding cultural influences. They may have never thought strategically about what they believe and may not be able to give a rational defense of their beliefs to others.
Students have worldviews, too. But do they have a biblical worldview, or is their worldview being shaped by the onslaught of ideas and values bombarding them from every direction? The casualty rate in the battle of ideas is high, particularly among Christian students. So we must be intentional about their worldview development.
Biblical Instruction Early Childhood - 8th Grade
Our faith is not something that we force to integrate, as if it does not naturally belong to all parts of our life. It is integral to all parts of our life. We believe that God is revealed in art, the sciences, mathematics, throughout history, etc. We make connections and integrate God’s truth and sovereignty into all aspects of education so our students both learn about and engage with God and the life into which they are being invited in all areas of life. TPCS is united in this: our learning about God and our faithful response to Him are linked together.
We begin laying the foundations for students to develop a biblical worldview in Early Childhood and we never stop our work. Our Bible curriculum plan includes the following:
Through daily bible stories, content integration and Chapel, our youngest students learn about God and His creation; the biblical fruit of the spirit and how those should impact their choices; how God has created each one uniquely; about Christian holidays; to show Jesus' love to everyone and that the Bible is God's word and is true; about Jesus' life and His example to us; learn about our need for a savior and the importance of God and His word in our lives.
Elementary & Middle School
Our curriculum is Building on the Rock from Summit Ministries, well known for strong biblical worldview education. It is a fully integrated Christian worldview and Bible survey course designed to help younger students begin to relate Bible facts and stories to a genuine Christian worldview, laying the foundation for later comparative worldview studies. It enables them to reflect the Scriptures in their thoughts and actions. Structured around a separate major theme of study for each elementary grade level, it reviews worldview and Bible content from prior grades and previews what's coming ahead - this allows students to successfully enter the curriculum at any grade level.
As students begin to mature and ask deeper questions about faith, we provide them with studies and opportunities to dig deeper into Scriptures and who God is.
