MTSS/ Special Education Services
Traders Point Christian Schools believes each child was uniquely created by God with individual strengths and weaknesses. Because of this, we strive to meet each student’s needs to help develop his or her God-given abilities. To do this, TPCS utilizes a multi-tiered approach to educating your child.
This Multi-Tier System of Support (MTSS) process is based on the following principles.
- All children can learn.
- Quality assessment informs instructional practices.
- Quality teaching makes a difference.
- Positive relationships within the classroom maximize learning.
- Educators must work together as a team.
Early Intervention
Our Early Intervention program provides a natural progression of support within the classroom or in small groups when a need is first identified through universal screening and benchmark assessments. Our support staff work collaboratively with the grade level teacher.
MTSS
Our MTSS program provides a more structured level of support when early interventions have not produced the desired outcomes or the student has not made adequate progress. Targeted and individualized interventions are implemented. Our support staff provide these interventions outside the classroom, while still working closely with the teacher.
Resource Room
Our Resource Room program provides the most intensive support for students with specific on-going needs. Services provided are based on careful consideration of a student’s individual needs, as identified through a referral process or an existing IEP (Individualized Education Plan), Service Plan or Section 504 Plan. Our Resource Room is staffed by certified special education teachers and instructional assistants.
